MULBERRY, Fla. – One person was killed Tuesday in a Polk County plane crash, deputies said.
The fatal crash happened at South Lakeland Airport in Mulberry.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said a small airplane crashed at the airport, which is an airstrip about 4,000 feet long surrounded by neighborhood homes.
No other details, including whether the victim was someone aboard the plane, were immediately released.
