The Powerball drawing scheduled for Saturday at 10:59 p.m. has been delayed due to one participating lottery needing additional time to complete required pre-draw procedures, according to a news release.

Powerball officials said that rules require that every ticket sold nationwide be checked and verified against two different computer systems before the winning numbers are drawn, but one jurisdiction needs extra time to complete that pre-draw process.

According to the release, when the required pre-draw procedures are complete, the Powerball drawing will be performed under the supervision of lottery security officials and independent auditors.

The drawing will be live streamed on Powerball’s website, and the winning numbers and recorded video of the drawing will be posted to the Powerball website and YouTube channel.

The delay will be sure to have millions on edge as Powerball’s top prize reached $1.23 billion, the 8th largest in U.S. lottery history.
