Firefighter accused of sexually assaulting teen in Brevard County park bathroom

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A firefighter was arrested over the weekend after a teen girl was sexually battered in the bathroom at a park in Brevard County, according to the sheriff’s office.

In a release, Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said Pedro Antuna, 26, had been taken into custody on Sunday afternoon on a charge of sexual battery against a victim between 16 and 17 years old.

A probable cause affidavit shows the incident happened at Nicol Park in Cocoa, though no date was provided for when the incident took place.

“I can confirm that it occurred at the park after the suspect followed her into the bathroom,” a spokesperson with the sheriff’s office told News 6.

The affidavit also said Antuna worked for Osceola County Fire Station 71.

Osceola County Fire Rescue confirmed Antuna had been a firefighter with the agency since 2021. Following his arrest, Osceola County Fire Rescue issued the following statement:

“On Sunday, May 12, Osceola County Fire Rescue & EMS was informed by law enforcement partners that an arrest was made involving an individual employed by the department. In accordance with department and County policy, the individual has been placed on suspension with pay pending investigation and further proceedings by law enforcement.”

Antuna was later released on Monday evening on a bond of $50,000. His arraignment date is scheduled for June 27.
