Orlando group helps busy mothers help themselves

Put Your Cape Away CEO joins Bridgett Ellison

Being a mother can sometimes feel overwhelming. Sometimes mothers admit to feeling like they have to do it all, for our children, our families and many times ourselves. Now a new local organization is trying to help busy mothers thrive.

Thursday, Bridgett talked to Zena Stevens, founder and CEO of Put Your Cape Away about her mission to help busy mothers thrive. It’s a brand dedicated to coaching and helping mothers, with a lot on their plates, to prioritize self-care and find more joy in every day’s journey. PYCA services include coaching, educational resources and corporate programs.

“PYCA is really a movement to help women understand that they do not have to be super moms, they do not have to be super women, all the time, and it’s ok to put your cape away. Most of the time, we need to make sure we are our number one priority so that we’re able to show up in all of our roles as our best self,” Stevens said.

Stevens, who has over 15 years’ experience working as a program manager with three Fortune 500 companies, saw a rising need to reach busy moms after the pandemic. She says many mothers are becoming more transparent and open about the struggle to find balance.

“It definitely looks different for everyone. I tell women figure out what brings you joy and find a way to incorporate that into every day,” she said. “Really getting in tune with yourself, making sure you’re good from a mental perspective, physical perspective, so that you’re able to give to everyone else,” she said. “From a mental health perspective, I think it’s really important for moms to really understand themselves, really take the time to get to know themselves, being present in the moment.”

Put Your Cape Away is hosting a launch event on June 23 at Capen House in Winter Park. Tickets to the brunch featuring a panel of influential women from the local community are $130 and it runs from noon to 4 p.m. For more information go to www.putyourcapeaway.com or contact: info@putyourcapeaway.com
