“This little wanna-be gang banger and drug dealer was actually babysitting two little kids when he was arrested with enough fentanyl in his possession to kill over 126,000 people!” Ivey said.

According to Ivey, investigators went to the house to serve a search warrant, and they found Thompson leaving the property.

As the investigators tried to take Thompson into custody, he fled on foot, throwing several bags of drugs nd a firearm, Ivey added.

However, he was chased down and tackled, and deputies ultimately put him under arrest, the release states.

“Agents were preparing to execute a search warrant on the apartment when they learned that Thompson had left two small children alone inside,” the release reads. “As a result, agents quickly executed the search warrant and found not only the two small children, but also a significant amount of drugs that were in close proximity to the kids!”

In all, deputies said the following items were seized from Thompson’s apartment:

  • 253 grams of fentanyl
  • 176.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine
  • 100.9 grams of suspected psilocybin mushrooms
  • 13.3 grams of suspected cocaine
  • Several boxes of THC cartridges
  • 3 firearms (including a sawed-off shotgun)
  • $4,030 in US currency

As a result, Thompson faces 13 counts involving charges like drug trafficking, child neglect, and resisting arrest. He is held on no bond.

Meanwhile, Ivey said that the children were returned to their family, and the Department of Families and Children was notified about the incident.

“Folks, this is one of those cases to be sure to watch how it proceeds through the criminal justice system because if he gets out on a BS bond amount or the charges are reduced, something is sad wrong with our society!” Ivey stated. “You can bet I’ll be tracking it because enough is enough!”
