1 hurt when small plane crashes into power lines in Melbourne Crash happened near Renningers Flea and Farmers Market
MELBOURNE, Fla. – One person suffered minor injuries after a small plane hit some power lines and crashed in Melbourne Thursday evening.
The crash happened at around 7 p.m. in a parking lot near the Renningers Flea and Farmers Market off Eau Gallie Boulevard.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, two people were on board the plane, which was a twin-engine Beechcraft 76. Based on the tail number on the plane, it was registered to a Melbourne flight school.
A deputy fire chief for the Melbourne Fire Department says the small plane hit power lines near the flea market. One person was hurt. It’s not known whether that person was on board the plane.
In a statement to News 6, the FAA said the pilot reported engine issues before the crash.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate.
