Silver Airways abruptly cancels all flights at Orlando International Airport

MCO receives notification that flights were canceled

ORLANDO, Fla. – Silver Airways, a Florida-based airline, suddenly canceled all of its flights over the weekend at Orlando International Airport.

Angela Starke, senior vice president of Public Affairs at the airport, released a statement Monday that said, in part, “We received notification Saturday afternoon that, effective immediately, all departing and arriving flights with Silver Airways are canceled.”

News 6 spoke with a traveler who arrived at the airport early Monday to find no one at the check-in counter.

Barbara Duke said she was trying to take a flight to Pensacola but was told instead that she’d have to take a United flight to Houston and then to Pensacola. Silver Airways is a partner airline of United Airlines.

“I just don’t like how things are working, it just makes me feel uncomfortable,” she said. “I’ll just drive, just take my time.”

Silver Airways filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in December but at the time said all tickets would still be valid and operations would continue as usual.

Silver Airways has not released a statement about the flight cancellations.
