According to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, the girl’s body was found around 9:35 a.m. on March 27 by a passerby near Cypress Lake Preserve, about 15 miles south of Sumter County.

Officials said the girl had left her home around 1:30 a.m. that day and was killed with an “edged weapon.”

Investigators said the victim was Cubel’s ex-girlfriend.
