ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando International Airport on Friday announced a major renovation project that will cost nearly $72 million.
In a news release, the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority said it is “committed to enhancing the look and feel of Orlando International Airport (MCO) into the next decade.”

The oversight agency said it is moving forward with plans to refurbish the interiors at Airsides 1 & 3 along with the interior refurbishment of Levels 1, 2 & 3 at Terminals A & B.
Airside is the portion of the airport past the security checkpoint, while landside is the area prior.
Construction in some areas will begin next year, with “substantial completion” of all the projects by 2028.
“In the spirit of major renovations to the Main Terminal in 2018 and the completion of Terminal C in 2022, the Authority’s goal now is to bring the remaining facilities up to those elevated standards,” the release stated. “The scope will consist of the design and construction of Landside and Airside interior refurbishment, and will include new flooring, new wall finishes, new ceilings with lighting improvements and new restrooms.”
Scope will consist of the design and construction of Terminals A and B, Levels 1 and 2 Interior Refurbishment, and will include, but is not limited to, the interior refurbishment and all associated systems and regulatory requirements.
Airside Restroom Renovation
Restrooms at all four Airsides will be upgraded. The goal is to improve the passenger experience by renovating and expanding the existing restrooms to provide additional capacity to meet the current and anticipated future passenger demands. Preliminary renderings show the bathrooms will look like the ones in Terminal C. Projected timeline:
- Design Phase 2024
- Construction 2025
- Substantial completion 2027
Airside 1 & 3 Interior Refurbishment
The goal is to improve the passenger experience by providing new contemporary interior finishes, seating, wayfinding, gate counters, and lighting improvements to the two original Airsides serving Gates 1-59. Projected timeline:
- Design Phase 2025
- Construction 2026
- Substantial completion 2027
Terminal A and B Interior Refresh for Landside, Levels 1 & 2
The goal is to enhance the passenger experience on the Baggage Claim and Rental Car levels in the Main Terminal by providing new interior finishes, seating, wayfinding, rental car counters and lighting improvements. Projected timeline:
- Design Phase 2025
- Construction 2026
- Substantial completion 2028
