DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The city of Daytona Beach issued an emergency boil water alert Friday due to a power failure at the water treatment plant on LPGA Boulevard.
Residents were urged to refrain from using tap water for their pets, specifically dogs and cats, and are urged to use bottled water for consumption until the boil water alert was lifted.

Sunday, the city announced the advisory was being lifted for 98% of Daytona Beach customers after two days of clean test results.
The advisory remains in place at the time of this report for the following locations:
- Bridgeport Dr. beachside
- 1250 Beville Road
- 250 N. Beach Street
- 1808 Concept Drive
177 customers in total remain impacted and door hangers are going out, the city said on social media.
A boil water alert means the water supply might be contaminated, so residents are advised to boil their tap water for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, or brushing their teeth. This helps kill bacteria and viruses that could be present.
Those with questions were encouraged to call 386-671-8815.
