ORLANDO, Fla. – New surveillance video is shedding light on what happened just minutes before a deadly officer-involved shooting outside an Orlando apartment complex.
The man shot and killed by Orlando police Thursday night has been identified as 25-year-old Orlin Manuel Bueso Calderon. According to the Orlando Police Department, officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a man waving a gun near a 7-Eleven and inside nearby businesses along Conroy Road.
News 6 obtained surveillance footage from Royal Touch Cleaners, which shows Calderon walking into the store holding what appeared to be a black handgun. The store’s owner, Joseph Alce, said Calderon didn’t say a word.

“We were sitting here doing business, and this guy came up to the front of the shop holding something. He came out with a gun, and my friend said, ‘Get the hell out.’ He stood there, dropped the gun, then picked it up again,” Alce told News 6.

The video shows Calderon lingering near the counter before walking out. Shortly afterward, police located him in the parking lot of Bella Vita Apartments, where witnesses say officers issued multiple commands before opening fire.
Eileen, who lives at the complex and witnessed the confrontation, described the moment she saw Calderon walking through the parking lot.
“He had a drink in one hand and a gun in the other. The cops told him to drop it, but he wouldn’t. So they had to do what they had to do,” she said.
Another neighbor, Lynn, said the shooting happened so quickly she barely had time to react.
“It was so fast. I was lucky I was behind my husband. I was scared,” she said.
Police later confirmed the weapon in Calderon’s hand was a BB or pellet gun that resembled a real firearm. Officers gave commands in both English and Spanish before firing.
Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith defended the officers’ actions on Friday during a news conference.
“It’s a very dangerous situation. The officers put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe. It’s a split-second decision when you see someone pointing a gun in your direction,” Smith said.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is now leading the investigation. All five officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave, which is standard protocol.
At this time, police have not released body camera footage or said whether mental health may have been a factor.
