Kangaroo captured, ‘chemically immobilized’ in St. Cloud, sparking search for owner

FWC officials said investigators responded to sightings on Monday evening

ST. CLOUD, Fla. – A loose kangaroo was found in Central Florida on Monday, sparking a response by wildlife investigators, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

In a release, FWC officials told News 6 that an investigator responded around 5 p.m. after receiving several reports of a kangaroo spotted in St. Cloud.

“With help from another licensed kangaroo facility owner, the investigator located the animal about an hour later,” the release reads. “The kangaroo was found calmly hiding in a thicket and was safely chemically immobilized.”

Afterward, the animal was taken to a local facility equipped to house kangaroos, where a veterinarian confirmed it was healthy, investigators explained.

Now, the FWC is working to determine who owns the kangaroo.
