OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – State prosecutors have dropped charges against Nicole Montalvo’s mother-in-law, Wanda Rivera, in connection to the St. According to a request from the state, prosecutors have received new evidence creating reasonable doubt as to the charges against Wanda Rivera. State prosecutors say a new cellphone analysis shows Otero-Rivera and Angel Rivera moved Nicole Montalvo’s vehicle from their property on Oct. 22. Wanda Rivera was arrested and posted $20,000 bail on May 28, 2020, according to the Osceola County Jail. Otero-Rivera and Angel Rivera are awaiting trial, which has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

City officials said food trucks can operate within the highway business zoning designation under a conditional use permit. The FHP said the motorcyclist was northbound when he tried to pass traffic in a no-passing zone. The biker traveled into the southbound lanes and the front of his motorcycle struck the front of an SUV, the FHP said. Orlando police bring back neighborhood patrol units
Orlando Police Chief Orlando Rolon said he’s bringing back the neighborhood patrol unit so officers can better understand the areas they serve, and help improve relationships between community members and police. It’s a program that, unfortunately when violent crime took a spike in the 2008 era, we did away with most of our resources when it comes to the neighborhood patrol unit so we could form violent-offender-type units to bring down violent crime activity. Changes include 10 additional officers reviving the neighborhood patrol unit and the department getting funding through the COPS grant and additional budgetary funds through the City of Orlando. “Walk them through the community, introduce them to people so community members will be familiar with them... the relationship between law enforcement and community is essential in transforming the community,” Andrews said. 27-year-old Florida woman dies after SUV overturns in water-filled ditch, troopers say
OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A 27-year-old St. Cloud woman was killed in a rollover crash Thursday morning in Osceola County, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Investigators are unsure when exactly the crash took place, but a witness spotted the woman’s SUV around 8 a.m., according to the FHP. According to troopers, the woman was driving an SUV north on Canoe Creek Road near Landing Road when she failed to follow a turn and drove off the road. Nicole Montalvos mother-in-law faces new charge of accessory to murder
CLOUD, Fla. The mother-in-law of a slain St. Cloud woman now faces charges of accessory after the fact to murder and tampering with physical evidence. Wanda Rivera, 60, was previously charged with providing false information to law enforcement in connection with the death of Nicole Montalvo. Rivera has not yet been arrested on the new charges, according to officials. OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. Hunter Black, 20, is accused of recording himself on Snapchat while he was driving before a fatal crash in St. Cloud, according to police. Cloud Police said the incident happened on Oct. 26, 2019, and Black has been charged with two counts of vehicular homicide and one count of driving while license suspended. Around 12:33 a.m. on Oct. 26, 2019 police said officers responded to the intersection of Nolte Road and Michigan Avenue. An officer said he saw the Snapchat video because he is friends with Black, according to court documents.

Suspect in missing mom's death admitted to violating injunction, deputies say
Cloud mother went missing and was later found dead, her estranged husband violated a domestic violence injunction, according to the Osceola County Sheriff's Office. Montalvo was last seen alive on Oct. 21 when she dropped her son off at the home where Otero-Rivera lives with his parents, deputies said. Records show deputies found a plastic Powerade bottle with 75 rounds of ammunition and three Winchester shotguns inside the home. That was enough to charge Rivera with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, investigators said. 21-year-old man dies after being hit three times while walking on Florida Turnpike
Cloud man is dead after being hit by multiple cars on the Florida Turnpike. According to troopers, Willy Castano, 21, was standing in the middle of the road just after 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Castano then walked into the direct path of a Ford Focus and was hit. A third vehicle, a Ford Mustang, attempted to avoid the crash but ended up running over Castano, as well. A medical examiner pronounced Castano dead, and troopers are investigating if alcohol played a factor in the crash.
Pirates closer, who lives in Central Florida, accused of child solicitation
PITTSBURGH - A 28-year-old All-Star relief pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates, who lives in St. Cloud, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of soliciting a child for sex, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. FDLE agents said Felipe Vazquez was arrested at his Pittsburgh apartment on charges of solicitation of a child and providing obscene material to minors. Vazquez was taken into custody on a felony warrant out of Lee County, according to the FDLE. Vazquez was taken to the Allegheny County Jail and will face extradition to Lee County.
Naked man captured on camera lurking outside St. Cloud home
Cloud, Fla. - A shocking sight was captured by a security camera outside a St. Cloud home. The video, posted on social media by a woman, shows a naked man, wearing only a backpack, rummaging through her car. It's unclear if the man stole anything from the car. Cloud police said they are investigating the incident.
Amateur historian brings long-lost headstones back to St. Cloud cemetery
CLOUD, Fla. - Larisa Roderick admits she is an avid historian, but her passion for the past has made a difference in the present. After years of exhaustive research, Roderick applied for and obtained 61 military headstones for veterans buried in Mt. Peace Cemetery history 10 years ago as a favor to a city employee who was looking for more information on Civil War veterans buried there. Cloud was advertised as a destination for aging Union veterans. "We're in what was a Union veterans' colony in the middle of a Confederate state," Roderick said.
