Man accused of murder in Osceola County shooting, sheriff’s office says

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – Osceola County deputies on Thursday arrested a 21-year-old man who’s accused in a fatal shooting, according to the sheriff’s office.

Jovaniel Lopez faces a charge of second-degree murder, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Deputies responding to a reported shooting Thursday in the 800 block of Cypress Parkway learned that Lopez had been involved in a verbal altercation with Micah Gabriel Mebane, 35, who Lopez then allegedly shot, the release states.

Mebane was pronounced dead at a hospital, the sheriff’s office said. The same day, the agency’s Homicide Unit reportedly obtained a warrant for Lopez’s arrest, according to the release.

Lopez is being held on no bond amount, records show.
