VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – The Volusia Sheriff’s Office wants to know if you were scammed by a roofer who’s accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from his customers.
Andrew Ingram, 44, faces charges of organized scheme to defraud in excess of $20,000, grand theft over $20,000, grand theft between $5,000 and $10,000 and obtaining property by fraud of less than $20,000, records show.
Ingram, whom the sheriff’s office said is associated with Busy Bee Roofing, was arrested late Saturday on warrants for allegedly scamming a customer in Port Orange out of a $21,000 deposit and allegedly scamming an Edgewater customer out of $9,000, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said on social media.
"If you lost money to him, too, please call the VSO Financial Crimes Unit at 386-254-1537," the post states.
According to the sheriff’s office’s past statements on the matter out of Port Orange, Ingram reportedly never applied for the necessary permit, delivered materials, or appeared on any of the agreed-upon start dates despite accepting a $21,000 deposit for a new roof in November. The customer allegedly demanded a refund after growing frustrated over Ingram’s repeated excuses, but investigators said Ingram never responded to the request.
