DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The unseasonably warm conditions continue throughout Central Florida.
“We wanted to come and get really cool today,” Kayan Grant said while at Daytona Beach on Sunday. “The whole family’s here. It’s three van loads of us, even our 7-month-old baby.”
This heat wave has it feeling more like late summer than spring in the Sunshine State.
“I saw it was going to be, like, above 90. So, we said we might as well take a minute to go to the beach,” Anthony Lugo said.

The feels-like temperatures of 100 degrees did not stop some from enjoying the weekend, they just made sure to do it safely. Like Jennifer Sayne and her daughter, who went to the final day of Welcome to Rockville at the Daytona International Speedway.
“(We’re here to see) Bad Omen and Daughtrey,” the pair told News 6.
The four-day festival featured over 150 bands and brought out over 200,000 fans. Sayne, who was one of those hundreds of thousands, said they came prepared for the heat by stocking up on SPF and water.
“Hydrate, hydrate. Hydrated. Sunscreen,” she said. “We’re VIP, so hopefully we’re able to stay in the shade a little bit. I’m hoping, but, you know, there’s no guarantee, it’s Florida. Welcome to Florida.”
While the warm weather continues, be aware that heat can be taxing on the body. Make sure you drink plenty of water, apply sunscreen every two hours, wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and take regular breaks in the shade.
