ORLANDO, Fla. – A man accused of preying on elderly women in Central Florida was denied bond and will remain jailed.
Deriko Montreze Hill appeared in court Tuesday for a pretrial detention hearing a week after he was arrested on charges of burglary of a dwelling with assault or battery, attempted sexual battery and battery on a person 65 years of age or older.
Prosecutors filed a motion to deny Hill’s bond and keep him in an Orange County Jail cell until his trial begins. The defense did not contest the state’s motion, and the judge granted the request.
“I do find that there is a substantial probability that the defendant has committed the offenses he’s accused of in these cases, and I also find there are no reasonable conditions of release that could protect the community from the risk of physical harm,” Orange County Judge Cherish Adams said.
There were several incidents that police linked to Hill.
On April 15, a 76-year-old woman reported that she woke up to a man in her room on Wilkinson Street. She said he grabbed her and tried to take off her pants, but he ran off when she called for her neighbor, according to authorities.

On April 29, a 90-year-old woman living at HarborChase in Dr. Phillips claimed she came home to find a man in her apartment exposing himself, police said. She said he tried to force himself on her but apologized and left, according to police.
Investigators believe Hill was the man in both incidents.
A day later, police claim he was spotted at Brookdale Senior Living Facility, where staff reported he was trying to get inside. Police said he attempted to do this two more times, a few days later.
After his arrest, Hill’s affidavit states he admitted to everything described above, saying he wanted to “make love to” older women, but he acknowledged he was forceful with them.
