According to the department, Yamani Serrano contacted the victim through social media and offered them nicotine products.

“Once the juvenile victim met with Serrano in person, the juvenile victim was lured into some nearby woods in the 3500 Block of South Street,” police said.

Serrano then took the victim’s phone and sexually battered them, according to the department.

“The juvenile victim then ran away to the roadway and flagged down a passing motorist, who contacted law enforcement,” police said.

Then, Serrano attempted to leave the area by contacting a ride-share service, which ended up being the passing motorist the victim flagged down.

He was arrested and faces charges of sexual battery, witness tampering and theft.

“This individual poses a serious concern to public safety, and we believe there are additional victims who have not yet come forward. We urge anyone with information to contact us—your voice matters, and your courage can help prevent further harm” Detective Ashley Kube said in a release.

Anyone with information is asked to call the department or report anonymously through Crimeline at 800-423-8477.
