FERN PARK, Fla. – Seminole County and Maitland firefighters put out a fire Sunday morning in Fern Park that reportedly began in a shed and spread to two homes following an explosion.
Firefighters responded around 11 a.m. to an address off South Lakewood Circle, the Seminole County Fire Department said on social media.
The fire appears to have rapidly spread to the two homes after an explosion, the post states.
In a statement, a Seminole County Fire Department spokesperson told News 6 that one firefighter was being evaluated for over-exertion and is expected to be OK, adding the occupants of the two burned homes were temporarily displaced.
“With fast actions by arriving crews, fire damage was limited to the ends of either house but severe enough to temporarily displace the families until repairs can be made,” the spokesperson said, in part. “(...) Units remain on scene for overhaul and the arrival of the Florida State Fire Marshal.”
No further details were immediately available.
