WEKIVA ISLAND, Fla. – An otter attacked a person last week at Wekiva Island, sending the victim to a hospital for treatment, Florida wildlife officials said.
The attack happened Thursday at Wekiva Island in Seminole County.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said an officer was called to the area for a report of an otter bite.
The victim was evaluated by Wekiva Island Fire and Rescue and taken to a hospital for treatment, the FWC said.
The FWC officer, in coordination with Wekiva Island management, searched for the otter but was unable to locate it.
There have been no further sightings of the otter, officials said on Tuesday.
