Flagler County man angry about debt payment accused of armed burglary, deputies say

Altercation was caused by a worthless coin set, watch and ring, authorities said

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – A Flagler County man was arrested on Tuesday by Flagler County deputies for allegedly entering a residence illegally with a gun and assaulting the homeowner in pursuit of money owed to him, officials said.

According to the arrest report, 34-year-old Joseph Palmese Jr. of Palm Coast knocked on the front door of the victim’s home before he lunged at them and pushed his way inside.

Palmese told deputies that he showed up at the victim’s home looking for money owed to him, the Sheriff’s Office said. The victim previously gave Palmese a coin set, watch and ring as a means of payment, he said, which Palmese intended to pawn.

Palmese said he later found out the items were not worth anything and went to the victim’s home to get his money back and confront the homeowner.

When deputies arrived at the home, the report states, they found the victim had subdued Palmese on the floor of the living room by wrapping their arms and legs around Palmese’s body.

Palmese was arrested and booked into the Flagler County jail, where he is being held without bond.
