Driver killed after striking pole along Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway

Crash happened shortly after 3 p.m., troopers announced

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A driver died after crashing along Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway on Thursday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

In a release, troopers said that the crash happened near Westside Boulevard around 3:05 p.m.

At the time, a 2022 Honda Civic was headed east along the highway, though for unknown reasons, the vehicle veered off the right side of the road.

As a result, the car struck a pole on the side of the highway, troopers added.

The driver — a 60-year-old Clermont man — was then taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the release reveals.

No additional information has been provided at this time, including what prompted the driver to go off the road or his cause of death.
