Kaznakoff was drinking at South Turn Lounge and Restaurant along Nova Road and was asked to leave after becoming belligerent, the Daytona Beach Police Department said in a news release.
After being escorted out of the establishment, Kaznakoff allegedly returned and fired multiple shots toward the entrance following a brief verbal exchange, striking three victims before driving away, the release states.
Officers responded around 10:48 p.m., locating the three victims near the front entrance, according to the release. All three people were hospitalized and are expected to survive their injuries, police said.
Police who responded to Kaznakoff’s home after identifying him as the shooter reportedly met with people who said the 28-year-old had briefly returned before leaving on foot.
Kaznakoff was then contacted by phone and surrendered to law enforcement with the assistance of his family members, according to the release. He was booked Saturday morning and was being held on no bond in Volusia County at the time of this report, records show.
Daytona Beach police credited the Volusia Sheriff’s Office and the South Daytona Police Department for their help in the investigation.
Dell Greene, owner of South Turn, said in a statement on social media that “all it takes is one drunk (expletive) to (expletive) it all up.”
(...) I’m not sure what we can and can’t divulge at this time since the case is still being investigated, but the short story is that someone at the bar was asked to leave, went out to his truck, came back and shot up the front of the restaurant while my brother and I were standing out front along with 3 guests at the time. Tyler had emergency surgery and is recovering (well!!) from 2 bullet wounds. The hospital would not tell us about the other 2 since we weren’t family but they told us they were considered non-trauma patients. My heart hurts today. I can’t wrap my head around it. Just senseless, unprovoked and f*cking cruel. To our guests that were injured physically or mentally by this I am so sorry. To our staff that was put through this and stayed to help clean up I am so sorry. I would really like to thank the Police & EMT’s for being so prompt and catching this POS within an hour! Also, there were some former military men in the restaurant at the time of the shooting that put a tourniquet on my brothers leg and probably saved his life. I’m not sure who you are, but if you see this or if anyone knows who I’m talking about - I’d love to buy you a beer. Hell I’d love to buy you a million beers. At this point we will be closed until further notice. Our staff needs a much deserved break and we need time to figure out our next steps. Thank you for your support and understanding.
