POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A Florida man was taken into custody after he was found getting ready for a bath in a stranger’s home, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
In a release last week, deputies said that the incident happened at a home north of Davenport.

“The homeowner wasn’t going to be around for a while, so he asked his neighbor to bear the responsibility of watching over the house,” the release reads. “That neighbor did a fantastic job, too.”
In fact, the neighbor spotted lights going on and off in the house one night, prompting the neighbor to contact the sheriff’s office, deputies said.
As a result, deputies responded to the home, where they found a man — identified only as “Joe” — cooking and filling up the tub for a bath, investigators revealed.
“Joe identified himself and admitted that not only did he not have permission to be there, he also had no idea who owned the house,” the release continues.
Per deputies, Joe explained that he’d gotten into a fight with his wife, and he didn’t want to go home, so he instead chose to “burgle someone else’s home instead.”
“It’s one of those things where you just have to grin and bear it,” the sheriff’s office wrote.
No additional information has been provided at this time, including the man’s identity and what charges he may be facing.
