Orange County middle school teacher accused of sex with student, records show

Sarah Jacas faces statutory rape, other sex charges

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – An Orange County middle school teacher has been arrested after being accused of statutory rape of a student, court records show.

Records show that 32-year-old Sarah Jacas, a teacher at Corner Lake Middle School in Orlando, was arrested by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office for sexual offenses that occurred from December 2022 through April 2023.

Orange County Public Schools confirmed to News 6 that Jacas was an employee, saying she “is a 10-month employee and is not working at OCPS during the summer break.”

According to an affidavit for arrest warrant, Jacas and the victim had been texting each other until the boy’s parents found out about the interaction. The communication then moved to Instagram and Jacas instructed the victim to delete messages between them so there would be no record of it, the affidavit said.

The victim told deputies that at least one time he and Jacas had sex during the school’s lunch period, according to the affidavit.

Principal Paul Browning sent a message to parents about the incident, which can be read below.

“Corner Lake Middle School families, this is Principal Browning calling to make you aware that one of our employees has been arrested after allegations of misconduct from two years ago were reported. I can assure you I take all allegations very seriously and there is an ongoing investigation by law enforcement and the district’s Office of Professional Standards. Although I cannot discuss employee matters, please know this person will not be returning to campus pending the outcome of the investigation. Please contact me at school if you have any questions. Thank you for listening and for your continued support.”

Orange County Clerk of Courts records show that Jacas faces charges of statutory rape by an authority figure, lewd or lascivious battery by a custodial authority and lewd or lascivious molestation by a custodial figure.

During the time period in which the allegations are said to have occurred, Jacas had contacted the boy via text message, Instagram, and Canvas, a platform designed for online learning, according to the affidavit.

The victim told investigators that they would use codes during their online communication.

Jacas created a fake Instagram account, called “bobthebuilder115520,” to communicate with the victim, according to investigators.

The victim told investigators that “115” signified “I miss you” and 520 meant “I love you.” A “high five” represented a kiss, the affidavit claimed.

News 6 was the only media outlet outside the jail after Jacas posted bond Wednesday.

As soon as Orlando Community Correspondent Mike Valente confronted Jacas, she draped a shirt over her head and walked in the direction of an awaiting vehicle.

Valente asked Jacas about the allegations against her, but she remained silent.
