COLLEGE PARK, Fla. – The Good Pour, a new wine and spirits store founded by a Central Florida couple, is on a mission to give back to the community.
In just two years, the company has donated more than $275,000 to local charities and is rapidly expanding across the region.
“Honestly, I think it’s such a testament to the power of doing really good things and being a part of the community,” said founder Giuliana Horal.
Horal and her husband recently opened their third Good Pour location in Orlando’s College Park neighborhood following successful launches in Gainesville and Longwood in 2024. More stores are already in the development process in Winter Park, Apopka and Naples.
At The Good Pour, price tags on everything from wine and spirits to gifts contain a highlighted orange number, indicating how much money the company will donate to charity.
So far, the company has partnered with more than 200 local and national charities. At check-out, customers can choose which charity they want their purchase to support. In the middle of the store is their so-called “Pour-Board,” a real-time tracker that keeps tabs on all donations.
“It’s really special because we see people that sometimes stand in front of us and tear up and they just tell you like, ‘You know, my uncle had Alzheimer’s and you know this means a lot,’” Horal said.
The Good Pour also works closely with local companies such as Corkcicle and Rifle Paper, and it carries live house plants from Apopka. They have partnered with Winter Park-based Simply Cheese as well, which just opened a cheese counter inside the College Park location.
Owner Annie Thornton says she started Simply Cheese right after COVID, leaving her medical sales job to pursue her true passion.
“I love everything about cheese,” Thornton said. “I love exploring new cheeses, new flavors. My biggest thing I love, like that unique cheese that you just can’t find at like other big box stores. So, I research, I find it and then I make the calls. Who do I need to get in touch with to get this cheese?”
Thornton’s cheese collection includes about 45 varieties all sourced from around the world. Everything from rich and creamy to sweet and crunchy, Simply Cheese pairs its varieties with different wines and spirits from Good Pour to create perfect tasting experiences.
Simply Cheese and The Good Pour not only offer pairing classes, but also charcuterie board classes, expanding on their mission to bring people together around food and drink.
