BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A man who had been deported from the U.S. three times prior was detained Wednesday following a traffic stop in Brevard County, according to court documents.

Luis Rivas-Martinez was stopped by deputies due to a window tint violation, officials said, when he presented his Mexican ID card to authorities.

Rivas-Martinez was put under arrest for having no driver’s license and deputies called the Orlando Border Patrol Station for further assistance, a border patrol agent said in a criminal complaint.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection records check on Rivas-Martinez concluded he was a citizen of Mexico, officials said, and his immigration history revealed he was deported from the U.S. three times from 2005 to 2013.

He remains in federal custody and has a plea hearing set for July 8.
