Rivas-Martinez was put under arrest for having no driver’s license and deputies called the Orlando Border Patrol Station for further assistance, a border patrol agent said in a criminal complaint.
A U.S. Customs and Border Protection records check on Rivas-Martinez concluded he was a citizen of Mexico, officials said, and his immigration history revealed he was deported from the U.S. three times from 2005 to 2013.
He remains in federal custody and has a plea hearing set for July 8.
