CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. – A Florida woman spent nearly 12 hours treading water before she was rescued by a good Samaritan, according to WINK News in Southwest Florida.
The woman told WINK News she accidentally fell out of her canoe around 9 p.m. in the Peace River, near Charlotte Harbor, and was found by the good Samaritan almost 12 hours later just a mile away from shore.
“I heard someone yelling ‘help,’” Russell Tryder said. “And I looked over, and here’s a woman yelling ‘help,’ and she could wave her hands.”
EMTs and law enforcement responded to the scene after Tryder called 911. The woman was examined and EMTs said her fingers were blueish-purple, which indicated the amount of time she had been in the water.
