Home prices have plummeted in this Florida city, study says

Top pick saw a dip of over 10%, researchers revealed

ORLANDO, Fla. – A recent study by Consumer Affairs has revealed the cities where home prices are falling the fastest — and it turns out the top spot is in Florida.

The study examined median home sale prices in nearly 200 cities between April 2024 and April 2025 to figure out which areas were having the biggest dips.

Of those, the areas where home prices fell the fastest were as follows:

  1. North Port
  2. Flint (Michigan)
  3. Crestview
  4. Sebastian
  5. Punta Gorda

Thanks to damage from these storms and the growing threat of severe weather, insurers have raised prices, which may be the reason why demand is falling.

“South Florida, in the 25 years that I’ve resided here, is always more volatile in terms of prices going up or down,” said Jeff Lichtenstein, founder of the brokerage Echo Fine Properties. “However, over time, prices have (gone) up far more than other markets.”

In addition, Lichtenstein posited that inflation, high insurance and condo assessment costs, and depreciating “fixer-uppers” may be to blame for the downturn.

But South Florida isn’t the only region in the state suffering from lower home prices. Places like Deltona, Ocala and Orlando also saw sizable dips.
