Investigation kicks off after dog found in Volusia County dumpster

Animal discovered over the Fourth of July weekend, FWC officials said

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A dog was found in the dumpster of a Volusia County apartment complex, kicking off an investigation over who’s responsible, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

In a release, FWC officials said that an officer responded to a call about the dog over the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

“He safely removed the dog and is now fostering it,” the release reads. “The Daytona Police Department has been notified and will lead any further investigation.”
