Oh, deer! Florida lifeguards make bizarre rescue in Atlantic Ocean

FLAGLER BEACH, Fla. – What a dear deer rescue!

Flagler Beach Ocean Rescue lifeguards rescued a deer — yes, a DEER — from the Atlantic Ocean.

The bizarre event unfolded Sunday off Flagler Beach.

A lifeguard swam to the animal, which was struggling to stay afloat, and placed the deer on a rescue board.

Other lifeguards assisted in bringing the animal to shore, where it was released into the nearby woods.

Flagler Beach Fire Rescue Chief Stephen Cox, who shared photos of the rescue, said Ocean Rescue led the effort and were joined by a Flagler Beach firefighter.

It’s not known how or where the deer entered the ocean or how long it had been in the water.
