VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office told drivers on State Road 44 to expect delays Saturday morning after a small plane landed on the roadway near New Smyrna Beach.
The plane made an emergency landing around 9:30 a.m. on S.R. 44 near the road’s intersection with Taganana Drive, the sheriff’s office said on social media.
According to the post, the pilot was able to land the plane safely and suffered no injuries.
The plane had departed from Spruce Creek Airport and was bound for Coe Field Airport, according to flight-tracking service FlightAware.
