2 struck in Daytona Beach shooting near Madison Avenue

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A shooting in Daytona Beach on Monday left two people hospitalized, according to the police department.

In a release, officers said they responded to 402 Madison Ave. after receiving calls about the shooting.

“The initial report, received by Volusia County dispatch, indicated a physical altercation between two individuals,” the release reads. “While dispatchers were still on the line with the caller, the situation escalated and was upgraded to a person shot call.”

Upon arrival, they found the two victims with gunshot wounds, and both were taken to the hospital for treatment, police noted.

Meanwhile, police said that the suspect — identified as Nathan Lee, 23 — was soon found and taken into custody.

According to investigators, it appears as though a fight had taken place between two individuals, and during the confrontation, Lee pulled out a firearm and shot one of the victims several times.

“One of the rounds fired punctured the structure wall and struck a second, uninvolved victim who was standing outside of the business,” the release continues.
