DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A child was injured by a firework over the weekend, leading to an emergency call in Daytona Beach, according to the fire department.
In a release, fire officials said that the incident happened on Saturday night in the 400 block of Whitney Street.

“Upon arrival, (Daytona Beach Fire Department) firefighters began immediate patient care to a juvenile who had received hand injuries as a result of a firework,” the release reads.
Due to the severity of the injuries, the child was airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, fire officials added.
“No other injuries were reported,” the release concludes.
No additional information about the incident has been provided at this time, including the nature of the child’s injuries.
