PALM COAST, Fla. – Deputies removed 96 cats from an elderly Palm Coast woman’s home following a residential welfare check, according to a social media post.

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook that the deputies did not find any intentional animal neglect or abuse in the welfare check on Tuesday, but did determine the living conditions were unsafe and the cats needed to be removed.

Palm Coast Animal Control removed the cats, deputies said, and took them to Flagler Animal Hospital for evaluation.
