ROCKLEDGE, Fla. – News 6 is learning just how hurt a 1-year-old got when the little boy survived falling out of a third-story window at an apartment complex.
Unsettling video at the Southgate Apartments last Thursday showed the toddler on a stretcher before a helicopter flew him to a children’s hospital.
Tuesday, Rockledge police sent Brevard County community correspondent James Sparvero its report that details how the fall happened and the injuries the child suffered.
It reads that the toddler’s mother opened the window while she was changing his diaper on a changing table next to the window.

“She turned around, and when she turned back facing (toddler), he was standing on the changing table with both hands on the window screen and fell out,” the report reads.
The report goes on to read that the toddler’s injuries included a broken orbital bone, collarbone, a lacerated liver, and he needed stitches on his lip.
His mother told police, “Doctors are most concerned about the stitches on his lip and other minor injuries will heal on their own.”
Home from the hospital on Tuesday, she told Sparvero her son is doing well.
“He’s doing good, but I don’t want to talk to anybody,” she said.
Police said investigators cleared her of any wrongdoing.
