WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. – Police in Winter Springs are trying to track down the suspects caught on camera breaking into a home this weekend.
Surveillance video obtained by News 6 shows four suspects entering the back patio of a home near Shetland Avenue and S. Citrus Road around 9:30 p.m. Saturday night. They are wearing hoodies, masks, and gloves and can be seen peering in through the glass before they walk out of the camera’s view. Minutes later the suspects quickly leave while one of them is seen carrying what looks like a dresser drawer full of valuables.
Investigators with Winter Springs Police say the homeowner watched it happen through his home security cameras while he was away.
“We had a resident who was out of town who had witnessed some individuals breaking into their home via remote cameras,” said Matthew Reeser, communications director for the city of Winter Springs. “They were in and out, but we’re just right now trying to piece together information.”

Winter Springs Police shared still images of the suspects on social media this week. They’re now asking anyone with information to come forward and hopefully help solve the case.
“Obviously they’re wearing masks, so that makes it a little difficult, but maybe the way they walk, maybe the way they’re dressed or just the general people in the neighborhood may have seen a strange car, strange individuals that aren’t really around that much,” said Reeser. “Something that would trip a memory for them and any information that would lead us further down this investigation.”
Police said the suspects went into the master bedroom and stole multiple items, including jewelry, clothing, and watches. They were in and out in approximately four minutes, according to detectives.
Our News 6 team visited the area Wednesday and spoke to neighbors as word spread about what happened.
“We saw the police announcement on Facebook,” said one woman. “Of course that was a little concerning. We love Winter Springs. We love this area. We love this neighborhood.”
Most told our crew they will be keeping a close eye on their security systems and checking on their neighbors as police investigate.
We also learned that police had been called to investigate a burglary at a home in the area earlier this year, but at this time they believe Saturday’s break-in is an isolated incident.
“We don’t have any information that would lead us to believe that this is connected to any other case that we have in the city,” said Reeser. “That’s not to say that as new information comes in, we might find that could be a possibility, but right now this is an isolated incident.”
Police are asking anyone who recognizes the suspects or may have more information to contact them directly or through Crimeline. They say a black Titleist backpack with burglary tools inside was also left behind outside the house.
Winter Springs does offer a free house check program that residents can use while they’re away. You can apply online here.
“Residents can go online, they fill out a form. That form gets submitted and it goes to our patrol units, they perform a check on your home,” said Reeser. “They’ll drive by consistently, depending on how long you’re out. They’ll check the windows. They’ll see if there’s any open doors. They’ll just kind of make sure that nothing’s out of place.”
