ORLANDO, Fla. – Dr. Phillips Center in downtown Orlando announced Friday it has acquired two nearby properties that will help “meet growing demand” and “create new opportunities.”

The center said it invested $10.39 million for the two parcels, located at 42 E. Jackson St. and 36 E Jackson St.

Together, the spaces are 43,948 square feet.

“With more than 5.6 million visitors since opening and venues running near full capacity year-round, acquiring these parcels paves the way for future development to meet growing demand and create new opportunities for high-impact events, free programming, arts and wellness initiatives, performances and community engagement,” a news release states.

While plans for the future development of these properties are still being finalized, Dr. Phillips Center said the short-term uses will include administrative office space and guest parking.

“Our promise has always been to elevate arts and community,” Kathy Ramsberger, president and CEO of Dr. Phillips Center, said in a statement. “This acquisition brings us closer to completing a vision that is already thriving, positioning us to grow our cultural and economic impact.”

Long-term, the center hopes to “increase access, elevate experiences and reinforce its role as a cultural and economic anchor in the heart of Central Florida” with this latest investment.
