‘Just so hot:’ Some patients still receive treatment during AC repairs to Parrish Healthcare Center

TITUSVILLE, Fla. – In an area already with limited healthcare options, a clinic is suddenly mostly closed.

The reason - no air conditioning.

Parrish Healthcare Center at the Titus Landing shopping center is closed for most services until the air gets back on.

Those patients have been relocated to other Parrish offices in Titusville and Port St. John.

Some patients, however, are still feeling the heat while the dialysis center remains open.

Annette Lamoureaux told Brevard County community correspondent James Sparvero it’s been uncomfortable.

“Being in there for three hours, my back’s soaked when I’m done,” she said. “It’s crazy.”

Lamoureaux said she has safety concerns, as well.

“It’s not healthy, either,” she said. “The blood’s gotta stay cool, and I just don’t know how they’re getting away with this.”

Lamoureaux gave credit to the staff for caring for her during the issues with the air.

“The staff is great. I like the facility here. I like everything. It’s just so hot,” she said.

For those who aren’t dialysis patients and have AC at the building they’ve been relocated to, some of them complained about getting there.

One man commented on Parrish’s Facebook, “No car. No other transportation but the bus for this blind wheelchair patient. And no bus from Titusville to Port St. John.”

Parrish replied about getting the man a ride to his appointment, but when News 6 asked to talk to Parrish for this story, Sparvero was told no because the company’s legal team is involved.

Parrish has not given a timeframe when the air will be fixed.
