Marquevis W. Chance, 39, faces aggravated assault, battery charges

DEBARY, Fla. – A man accused of pistol-whipping a teen and forcing him and his girlfriend to undress at a DeBary park on Sunday has been arrested, according to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.

Marquevis W. Chance, 39, turned himself in to authorities on Monday.

According to the sheriff’s office, two 17-year-olds — a boy and girl — were at the park at Lazio Circle and Kalin Street when Chance approached the couple and hit the boy in the head with a gun and pointed it at the girl.

Afterward, deputies say Chance forced the teens to undress and took their clothes before leaving the area.

The boy was taken to a hospital to be treated for a cut on his head after the attack, according to officials.

Deputies said the assault was “retaliation for an earlier altercation involving a family member of the victim.”

Chance faces charges of aggravated assault, aggravated battery with a firearm and armed robbery.

He is being held without bond at the Volusia County jail.
