Arrests made after 14-year-old shot in Eustis drive-by shooting

EUSTIS, Fla. – Two people were arrested nearly one month after a 14-year-old boy was shot in a drive-by shooting in Eustis, according to police.

The shooting happened on July 7 outside a home near Glover Street.

The Eustis Police Department on Thursday said Ja’Baree Lane, 20, and Taniyah Williams, 17, were arrested.

The 14-year-old, who was outside, was struck in the leg and suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Police said in July that the shooting stemmed from a rivalry between two groups but did not provide any other details.

At the time, police said they located the vehicle involved in the shooting. Police said in a news release that vehicle led them to Lane and Williams.

Lane faces charges of attempted second-degree murder, discharging a firearm in public or residential property and shooting at or into a dwelling. Williams faces charges of principal attempted second-degree murder, principal discharging a firearm in public of residential property and principal shooting at or into a dwelling.
