The utilities provider described an arc flash as “the light and heat produced as part of an arc fault (sometimes referred to as an electrical flashover), a type of electrical discharge that results from a connection through air to ground or another voltage phase in an electrical system.”
All three workers were transported to the hospital for treatment and their families have been notified. One of the three patients was transported as a trauma alert.
Of the three patients, one has since been released, one is expected to remain overnight and a third will stay for additional treatment, OUC said in a statement.
Our thoughts are with these employees and their families, as we remained committed to supporting them throughout this difficult time.

Crews remained on site to investigate the cause of the incident and to carry out necessary repairs, OUC said. Officials confirmed there were no customer outages linked to the incident and the substation continues to operate normally.
Due to law enforcement responding to the scene, SunRail announced that all trains would be stopped between AdventHealth and Orlando Regional Medical Center stations, adding passengers could expect delays of up to an hour.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
