The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the school was first put on lockdown and then evacuated while deputies worked to investigate the threat and clear the scene. The sheriff’s office said the campus was cleared and no threat was found.

The students were moved to the Sumter County Fairgrounds along County Road 471, south of Sumter County Road.

Parents and guardians wishing to pick up their students should go to the fairgrounds and bring a valid photo ID for verification. Students who are still at the fairgrounds by 4 p.m. will be taken home on their normal bus routes, the sheriff’s office said.
