According to the Cocoa Police Department, a man was on the hood of a white car when it crashed on State Road 520 near Fiske Boulevard.

Video shared with News 6 by a driver on S.R. 520 shows the man clinging to the hood of the car as it traveled down the roadway.

“I happened to look in the rearview mirror and saw a white car with a man on the hood coming right up behind me at a very uncomfortable speed and at that point, panic set in,” said Stephanie Blake, the owner of Renewed Cleaning Service.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Jimenez was driving erratically and crashed into another car, throwing the man off the vehicle.

The incident, which started at a Wawa nearby, prompted the closure of the roadway for a couple of hours.

Multiple witnesses told police that Jimenez and the man were arguing at the Wawa and Jimenez was trying to leave the gas station when the man sat on the hood of the car, according to the affidavit. Police said the man and Jimenez are married.

Surveillance video from the Wawa showed the man on the hood of the vehicle as the vehicle backed out from the air pumps, police said. Video later showed the man get back onto the hood of the car before it leaves the gas station toward West King Street, or S.R. 520.

Police were told by witnesses that the vehicle was speeding away from the Wawa with the man on the hood. Witnesses told police that the driver made sharp left and right movements to try and get the man off the hood of the car, the affidavit stated.

When the driver attempted a U-turn, the car crashed into another vehicle and threw the man off the hood, according to the affidavit, and witnesses told officers that the man got back onto the hood as the vehicle attempted to drive off.

“She actually slammed into the car that was in front of me and then, when she reversed, he jumped back on the hood,” Blake said.

Officers viewed surveillance video from a business along King Street that showed the man get run over by the front wheel of the vehicle, the affidavit states. The vehicle and the man then travel out of view of the surveillance video.

The man was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition, with a skull fracture and a brain bleed, according to the affidavit.

Jimenez faces multiple charges, including attempted second-degree murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, reckless driving causing serious bodily injury and leaving the scene of a crash with property damage.

Wednesday at the county jail, Judge David Silverman assigned her a $180,000 bond.

“Have no contact with the alleged victim,” the judge ordered.

Silverman also told Jimenez she can’t go to any medical facilities where her husband is being treated.

Police told Brevard County Community Correspondent James Sparvero the fight between the couple was about her getting a job.

An investigation is ongoing.
