Video surveillance showed Hansford striking the victim multiple times until the victim was rendered unconscious. Hansford then continued to strike the victim while he was on the ground, the affidavit states.
Meanwhile, police said Ashley Weeksbury, 30, was seen rummaging through the victim’s pockets and removing a cellphone from his right front pocket.
Both Hansford and Weeksbury fled the scene east on East Central Boulevard toward North Rosalind Avenue.
Weeksbury was eventually detained by police, who recovered the stolen cellphone. The victim was transported by the Orlando Fire Department for medical treatment due to his injuries.
Orlando police body-worn cameras showed Hansford and Weeksbury being taken into custody.
Based on video evidence and officer observations, Hansford was charged with battery, and Weeksbury was charged with robbery.
