ORLANDO, Fla. – A family-owned jewelry store in Orlando is temporarily closed as police probe a burglary there last weekend.
Orland police confirmed Thursday that the department is investigating.
“It’s been a few days of hell,” said David Adams, the owner of Adams Jewelry.
Adams spoke to News 6 inside his business, which has been a source of pride for the family since it opened on Corrine Drive in 1971.
“In the jewelry business, this is the worst thing that can possibly happen,” he said.
Adams was not comfortable sharing how much was stolen Sunday night, but he did share a video showing the aftermath of his safe being breached.
He wanted to speak on camera so he could inform his clients, whose contact information was swept up in the burglary.
“I feel terrible for any goods that may have been lost that were customer goods,” he said. “That’s the first thing I’m going to try to take care of.”
Adams pointed out the wires dangling from the ceiling. They had been cut, as it appeared those responsible were able to disable the security cameras. He believes this was carried out by experienced criminals.
“I have never seen anything to this devastation,” Adams said. “Even the police seem shocked.”
Adams has retained a private investigator, who is encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
A GoFundMe was set up to help the business “move forward.”
Our family’s jewelry business, built with years of sacrifice, love, and dedication was robbed. Thieves broke into our safe and took everything: our entire life savings, precious inventory, and the future we had worked so hard to build.
This wasn’t just a business; it was our dream and our family’s foundation. Every late night, every extra hour, every piece of jewelry we carefully crafted or sourced was a piece of us.
