Missing endangered 18-year-old found safe, Sanford police say

SANFORD, Fla. – The Sanford Police Department on Monday announced that a missing endangered person last seen Sunday night was “located safe and sound.”

The department said Mark Nelson was last seen around 10:30 p.m. walking north on S. Orlando Drive near 27th Street.

Police posted on social media around 5:50 p.m. on Monday saying that Nelson had been located.

He is described as being 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds. He has short brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a Dr. Pepper shirt and shorts with Aztec designs.

“Mark communicates primarily through sign language and can also read lips if the speaker is in front of him,” police wrote on social media.
