OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – Major changes could be coming to U.S. 192 in Osceola County.
Thursday night, the Florida Department of Transportation is hosting an open house to present proposed improvements to the public.
According to FDOT, the project would resurface a large section of U.S. 192 (East Vine Street/East Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway), from Main Street to Aeronautical Drive, and improve traffic flow at the heavily-used Turnpike exit at Cross Prairie Parkway.

“It’s really busy, to be honest,” Osceola County resident Joshua Noll told News 6. “It takes like an hour to just get to St. Cloud half the time.”
Many drivers know how bad congestion can get on U.S. 192.
“That’s why I don’t drive it often. I take the freeways, because it’s so packed all the time,” Chip Walden said. “Yeah, 192 is really bad. So, anything they could do to help it out would be great.”
FDOT is focusing on resurfacing the road and adding a new lane at the Turnpike exit to U.S. 192. This lane would allow drivers to go straight or turn left, helping to reduce backups.
When asked how helpful an extra lane off the Turnpike would be, Lynn Danan responded, “Very helpful. Like, a lot.”
The in-person open house will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hart Memorial Central Library, at 211 E. Dakin Ave., Kissimmee. Attendees can view a looping presentation, review project displays, speak with project team members and submit comments or questions. A virtual option will also be available for those who cannot attend in person.
