ORLANDO, Fla. – Just in time for Halloween season, Orlando Family Stage brings R.L. Stine’s beloved “Goosebumps” series to life with their production of “Goosebumps the Musical: Phantom of the Auditorium,” running Oct. 4 through Nov. 2.

The show transforms one of Stine’s most popular mysteries into a family-friendly musical that blends humor, suspense, and theatrical magic. Set in a middle school theater program, this meta-theatrical adventure follows students as they attempt to stage a production while dealing with rumors of a mysterious phantom haunting their auditorium.

“It’s about a school that’s putting on a show, and the school just so happens to be maybe haunted by a phantom,” explained Alaina Rene Kizer, who plays Tina Powell. “It’s kind of meta. It’s kind of fun.”

The production features a talented young cast including Anna Kate Hindman as Brooke Rogers, a middle schooler with a passion for all things scary, and Rhyse Sylvester as Zeke Matthews, described as a “trickster” who loves playing pranks on his classmates. Seth Kirk rounds out the main cast as Brian Coulson, the theater-loving new student who develops feelings for Brooke.

Technical Innovation Meets Storytelling

The show’s technical elements create an immersive experience for the audience.

“We have this really cool floor and some strobe and smoke effects that just make the whole show really come to life and have all of these exciting moments that you don’t really expect,” Heineman said.

Pat Clark, who plays the mysteriously ever-present janitor Emile, emphasizes the show’s broad appeal.

“It’s not just for kids. It’s fun for all ages and spooky.” He said. “Every single track is a banger. No skips.”

Interactive Mystery Experience

The production takes full advantage of its “whodunit” format, engaging audiences in solving the phantom mystery.

“I get to stand up basically in the audience for the latter half of the show, and I got to hear them oohing and aahing and freaking out and figuring out who the Phantom was,” Kaiser shared, describing the electric atmosphere during preview performances.

“It’s fun for us to interact with the audience and listen to them... slowly discover and unravel the mystery with us,” added Sylvester, noting how the show expands upon the original book. “All questions are answered when watching this play come to life, and it’s beautiful seeing the translation from page to the stage.”

Perfect Halloween Season Entertainment

While the show includes spooky elements, it maintains a family-friendly atmosphere that makes it appropriate for all ages. The production successfully balances scary moments with humor and heart, creating an ideal theatrical experience for the Halloween season.
