ORLANDO, Fla. – Tourism in Orange County continued its hot streak in August, breaking another record for tourist tax revenue collection.

The county comptroller’s office says the county collected $25,649,100 in August in taxes from hotel rooms and other lodgings.

That’s a 10.7% increase in revenue compared to August 2024, the strongest collections for any August on record, according to Comptroller Phil Diamond.

The numbers recognize a continued revenue streak this summer.

June 2025 collections were 10.3% higher compared to June 2024, with $33,698,100 in tax revenue collected.

July 2025 collections were 11.1% higher compared to July 2024, with $29,571,100 in tax revenue collected.

According to Visit Orlando, Orlando’s hotel occupancy rose to 63.9% in August, a 2.5% increase over last year. Room demand increased by a 4.3% margin.

The average daily rate hit $164.07, up 2.3% from the previous year.

Casandra Matej, CEO for Visit Orlando, says Epic Universe’s opening plays a part in those numbers, but also notes the area’s tourism scene is diverse, and that helps too.

“Orlando is generally more insulated from broader economic pressures than many other destinations, thanks to our family-friendly nature. In addition to exciting new product with a new theme park, attractions and hotels, we’ve also welcomed new air service for both domestic and international destinations, making it easier for more visitors to travel to Orlando,” she told News 6.
